Job Description
Workforce Recruitment Services seeks to recruit for the following position on behalf of a Client.
1. POSITION OVERVIEW
A leading Digital financial services provider in Malawi is undertaking a strategic market assessment to evaluate opportunities for expanding its digital financial services portfolio.
To support this initiative, the organization intends to engage an external consulting firm to conduct comprehensive market analysis and strategic feasibility study.
The organization therefore seeks to recruit a Temporary Business Project Manager who will act as the internal project lead, responsible for coordinating and overseeing the successful execution of the consultancy engagement.
The Business Project Manager will ensure that the consultancy assignment is delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives, while facilitating effective collaboration between the consultant, internal stakeholders, and relevant external institutions.
2. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The primary purpose of this role is to manage and coordinate the implementation of a strategic market analysis project related to the expansion of digital financial services.
The role will ensure that the appointed consultant delivers high-quality analytical outputs and strategic recommendations that will support senior management in making informed investment and strategic decisions.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Project Governance and Coordination
Act as the primary internal project lead for the strategic market assessment initiative.
Coordinate all project activities between internal management teams and the appointed consulting firm.
Establish and maintain a structured project governance framework, including reporting mechanisms and decision-making processes.
Ensure alignment between consultancy outputs and the organization’s broader strategic objectives.
3.2 Consultant Management
Serve as the main liaison between the organization and the appointed consultant.
Facilitate access to internal resources, data, and key stakeholders required by the consultant.
Monitor consultant performance against agreed scope, timelines, and deliverables.
Ensure adherence to the agreed methodology and project milestones. 3.3 Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate engagement with key internal and external stakeholders, including:
Senior management teams
Digital financial services leadership
Industry stakeholders
Regulatory and policy institutions where required
Facilitate stakeholder interviews, workshops, and consultation sessions required for the market analysis.
3.4 Project Planning and Monitoring
Develop and maintain a detailed project implementation plan for the consultancy engagement.
Track project milestones and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies where necessary.
Provide regular progress updates to senior management.
3.5 Quality Assurance of Deliverables
Review and assess consultant deliverables to ensure they meet the organization’s expectations and business requirements.
Ensure outputs are analytically sound, practical, and actionable.
Coordinate internal review sessions and consolidate stakeholder feedback.
3.6 Executive Reporting Support
Support senior management in preparing presentation materials and briefing documents for executive decision-making forums.
Ensure that consultancy outputs are translated into clear strategic insights and recommendations.
4. Expected Deliverables from the Business Project Manager
The Business Project Manager will support the delivery of the following outputs:
Project governance and implementation framework
Stakeholder engagement coordination
Periodic project status reports
Coordination and tracking of consultant deliverables
Consolidation of internal stakeholder feedback
Support in preparation of executive-level briefing materials
5. Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
A master’s degree (MBA, Finance, Strategy, or related discipline) will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
At least five (5) years of professional experience in project management, strategy consulting, financial services, or digital transformation initiatives.
Proven track record of managing complex strategic or consulting engagements.
Experience in ICT, financial services, fintech, or digital platforms will be considered an added advantage.
Experience delivering similar assignments will also be advantageous. Applicants who have undertaken comparable projects should include a portfolio of evidence and traceable references as part of their application.
Professional Certifications (Preferred)
Project Management Professional (PMP) Agile Project Management Certification
