Job Description

Role Overview and Purpose 

Madzi Parts is entering an important growth phase. Having developed a range of highquality replacement components for Afridev handpumps, we are now focused on building commercial sales and establishing a market presence across Malawi and selected Sub-Saharan African markets.

We are seeking a commercially driven Sales and Marketing Manager to lead outreach, build and manage a structured pipeline of opportunities, and convert interest into revenue. The role will focus on proactive market development, disciplined sales execution and building visibility and awareness of Madzi Parts among governments, businesses, NGOs, distributors, development partners and the wider pump repair and supply network, including retailers, hardware suppliers, mechanics, and communities.

The role requires a combination of sales experience and practical marketing capability, alongside a results-oriented and energetic mindset.

 

Role Responsibilities and Expectations

1.  Sales and Business Development

  • Design and implement a practical sales strategy and outreach plan, aligned to revenue targets
  • Build and manage a structured and disciplined sales pipeline to actively support prospect conversion, maintaining accurate records of prospects, meetings and forecasted sales
  • Identify, prioritise and engage high-potential prospects - from NGOs, distributors and institutional buyers, to more localised prospects, such as hardware store and retailer chains.
  • Understands and maintains awareness of sector competitors and any associated risks
  • Lead commercial conversations and present Madzi Parts products to prospective customers.
  • Convert opportunities (both existing interest and new prospects) into confirmed orders and revenue.
  • Support pricing discussions and commercial negotiation.
  • Identify bottlenecks in the sales journey and recommend improvements.
  • Meet agreed sales and revenue targets.

 

2.  Marketing and Awareness 

  • Design and implement marketing initiatives that strengthen awareness and credibility of Madzi Parts and generate interest and demand among priority audiences and market segments
  • Clearly articulate and build on the Madzi Parts value proposition and proof points
  • Incorporate, where necessary, the broader Madzi Alipo model and backstory to support the Madzi Parts narrative
  • Coordinate development and use of necessary sales materials (presentations, product sheets, case studies, digital content).
  • Plan and manage participation in relevant sector events and exhibitions.
  • Strengthen Madzi Parts’ visibility and reputation within Malawi’s rural water sector and selected SSA markets.

 

3.  Relationship Management

  • Build strong relationships across all relevant audiences and stakeholders within the sector, including governments, business, NGOs, development partners, distributors
  • Represent Madzi Parts professionally at meetings and sector forums
  • Work collaboratively with the Madzi Alipo team to ensure strong coordination between technical engagement and commercial conversion.

 

4.  Commercial Performance and Planning

  • Provide regular sales forecasts and performance updates.
  • Contribute to broader commercial strategy and market expansion planning.
  • Support development of pricing strategy, sales targets and commercial plans
  • Help establish and refine processes and tools to support sales and marketing activity

 

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills Required

Essential

  • Proven experience (minimum10 years) in sales or business development.
  • Demonstrated track record of converting opportunities into revenue.
  • Build, manage and convert structure sales pipeline, from lead generation through to close
  • Strong commercial mindset with ability to manage sales targets and forecasts. Experience engaging NGOs, development partners, distributors or institutional buyers.
  • Ability to lead commercial conversations, presentations and negotiations with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience designing and delivering practical marketing or awareness-building initiatives that support sales
  • Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (including fluency in English)
  • Highly proactive and self-motivated.

 

Desirable

  • Experience within WaSH, rural water supply, infrastructure, engineering or technical product sectors.
  • Understanding of donor-funded or NGO procurement processes.
  • Experience working with distributors, retailers or hardware supply chains
  • Experience representing an organisation at industry events or exhibitions.
  • Experience working within a scaling organisation or start-up environment.
