Position: Risk and Compliance Officer – Grade 12

VisionFund Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified and dedicated candidates to fill the position of Risk and Compliance Officer.


Purpose of the Position

The Risk and Compliance Officer will support effective risk management policies and procedures and monitor compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The role also involves protecting the institution from operational and legal risks while supporting the wellbeing of vulnerable children in Malawi.


Key Responsibilities

Compliance Management (50%)

  • Conduct monthly branch visits, spot checks, and portfolio reviews
  • Ensure adherence to policies, laws, and regulations
  • Investigate and resolve identified compliance violations
  • Conduct internal audits and Legal Teams investigations
  • Advise management on AML/CFT and conflict of interest matters
  • Prepare compliance reports and operational risk status updates

Risk Management (50%)

  • Assist in developing and updating risk strategies, manuals, and policies
  • Monitor post-loan disbursement activities and assess risk areas
  • Participate in debt collection and recovery procedures
  • Prepare risk management reports and recommendations

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Administration, Internal Audit, or related field with at least 3 years of experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or related areas
  • Familiarity with financial services industry
  • Strong communication, analytical, and computer skills
  • Knowledge of Sun System, T24 Loan Tracking System, and digital platforms is an added advantage
  • Must be a committed Christian
