About the Role

NBS Bank Plc invites applications from suitably qualified and interested candidates to fill the following vacancy in Corporate Banking, tenable in Blantyre.


Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Banking, the successful candidate's responsibility will be to drive portfolio growth and income generation by developing and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring client retention, and delivering efficient NBS Bank products and services in line with the Bank's approved risk appetite.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop and implement portfolio business and sales plans aligned to the Bank's overall strategy
  • Analyze market trends, industry developments, and portfolio performance to identify new business opportunities
  • Drive revenue growth through selling and cross-selling of the Bank's products and services including assets, liabilities, trade finance, and digital
  • Build and manage strong client relationships to increase wallet share, enhance customer loyalty, and improve retention
  • Identify and onboard new business in line with the Bank's appetite
  • Assess, structure, and recommend credit facilities in line with risk and compliance requirements
  • Monitor portfolio performance against budget and targets and implement corrective actions where necessary
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery in line with SLAs
  • Monitor credit quality and minimize non-performing loans
  • Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, procedures, and audit standards, including KYC and compliance guidelines
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated client solutions
  • Contribute to product development and enhancement by providing market intelligence, customer feedback, and identifying emerging needs
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely portfolio performance, sales, and management reports to support decision making

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Sales & Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience in Corporate or Commercial Banking, with at least 3 years at a supervisory or relationship management level
  • Proven track record in managing corporate client portfolios, driving revenue growth, and delivering business development targets
  • Strong experience in credit analysis, structuring facilities, and trade finance solutions
  • Non-bankers with proven relationship management experience and a strong drive for business development and sales growth are encouraged to apply
