Job Description
OVERVIEW
Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Malawi is a non-profit, faith-based healthcare organization established in 1994 to contribute to the development of health for all Malawians, including the most vulnerable, marginalized, and excluded groups. With operations in Lilongwe and Mzuzu, the organization is a key provider of tertiary and community-based mental health services, early intervention, inclusive education for children with disabilities, vocational training, elderly care, psychosocial support, rehabilitation services, and university-level training in health-related disciplines.

Project Officer (ECCD Project)
Position Overview
Reporting to the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will support the implementation and monitoring of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) project activities.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and implement project activities in line with approved work plans and budgets
Support community mobilization and stakeholder engagement
Provide technical support to caregivers, teachers, and community structures
Monitor project progress and collect data for reporting
Prepare periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and safeguarding standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Development, Social Work, Development Studies, or a related field
Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in project implementation, preferably in ECCD or community development
Strong understanding of integrated early childhood development programming
Experience working with communities, NGOs, or development partners
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report writing skills
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to work with people with mental health conditions
Commitment to the organization’s Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy.
