About JONEHA
The Network of Journalists Living with HIV (JONEHA) is a nationally registered organization with a vision of promoting effective media advocacy for quality health services. Its mission is to ensure access to quality healthcare services for all.
JONEHA has received funding from the International Treatment and Preparedness Coalition (ITPC) to implement the Community Monitoring and Engagement for Transformation (COMET 2) Project and is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Project Officer.
Job Overview
The Project Officer will support the implementation of the COMET 2 Project aimed at generating Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) evidence and health budget monitoring data to inform HIV prevention policy, financing shifts, and community engagement in national HIV decision-making processes.
Reporting To: Programs Manager
Key Responsibilities
• Develop project implementation plans including timelines, budgets, and advocacy strategies
• Lead project implementation and coordinate activities with departments and teams
• Oversee data collection, analysis, and documentation
• Monitor project progress, expenditures, and performance against KPIs
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies
• Coordinate and support COMET district supervisors to ensure timely delivery of project activities
• Prepare progress reports and briefs for management and donors
• Support proposal writing and project planning activities
• Assist in the selection of contractors and vendors
• Perform any other duties assigned by management
Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Economics, Data Management, Statistics, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community work and/or research
Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong ability to manage donor-funded projects
• Ability to work effectively with government and multidisciplinary teams
• Strong supervisory, planning, organizational, and teamwork skills
• Advanced data analytics skills using Microsoft Excel, business intelligence tools, and AI platforms
• Ability to prepare high-quality data visualizations
• Knowledge of Malawi’s health information systems and monitoring and evaluation processes
• Experience with community monitoring and accountability programs is an added advantage
• Familiarity working with marginalized and affected populations
