The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting a wide range of high-quality pastries, breads, cakes, desserts, and other baked products while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and creativity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, breads, desserts, and confectionery products to the hotel's quality standards.
• Design and develop seasonal dessert menus and introduce innovative pastry creations.
• Ensure all baked products are prepared, presented, and served consistently and on time.
• Monitor inventory levels and order pastry ingredients and supplies as required.
• Minimise food waste through effective planning and stock rotation.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic pastry kitchen in compliance with food safety regulations.
• Supervise and train junior pastry staff where applicable.
• Ensure all pastry equipment is properly maintained and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage team to support hotel events, conferences, and special functions.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
• Diploma or Degree in:
- Culinary Arts
- Pastry Arts
- Or a related field.
Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience as a Pastry Chef or Baker in a reputable hotel, restaurant, or bakery.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
• Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods, cake decoration, and dessert presentation.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
• Creativity and passion for producing high-quality pastries and desserts.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible shifts.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
