OVERVIEW

ETG Climate Solutions is establishing a biomass production facility in Lilongwe, Malawi. The plant will play a key role in developing a reliable biomass value chain covering feedstock aggregation, processing, densification, storage, logistics, and supply to industrial customers. The business will serve customers across sectors including dairy, breweries, food processing, tobacco, tea, manufacturing, industrial boilers, and clean cooking, helping them reduce their reliance on conventional fossil fuels through cost-effective, sustainable biomass alternatives.

POSITION 1: BIOMASS PLANT TECHNICIAN

JOB TYPE: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY

The Biomass Plant Technician will be responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs of all the machinery and electrical installations of the biomass plant.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering City and Guilds or Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installations or General Fitting.

Experience:

• 2–5 years of experience in industrial plant maintenance, preferably in biomass pellet, briquette, feed mill, wood-processing, or similar industries.

Skills:

• Good knowledge of electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting.
• Preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Equipment calibration.
• Industrial safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect, operate, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems of the biomass pellet plant and auxiliary equipment.
• Identify, fault-find, and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and control-panels related issues.
• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance to ensure reliable plant operation with minimum downtime.
• Carry out testing, calibration, and basic maintenance of plant and laboratory equipment (Bomb Calorimeter, Moisture Analyzer/Oven, Muffle Furnace, and Precision Weighing Balance).
• Monitor electrical and instrumentation equipment for abnormal conditions and take corrective action.
• Support plant start-up, shutdown, and routine maintenance activities.
• Maintain maintenance records and ensure compliance with health, safety, and housekeeping requirements.

POSITION 2: BIOMASS PLANT MACHINE OPERATOR

JOB TYPE: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY

The Machine Operator will be responsible for smooth running and maintenance of machinery in the biomass plant to ensure good quality of the finished products.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering City & Guilds or Level 3 Certificate in General Fitting.

Experience:

• 2–5 years of experience in operating biomass pellet mills, briquette machines, feed mills, wood-processing equipment, or similar industrial machinery.

Skills:

• Good knowledge and skills of mechanical equipment troubleshooting.
• Preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Machine operation.
• Industrial safety.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate biomass pelletizing machines as per feedstock/blending requirements.
• Monitor machine parameters and adjust settings to maintain consistent pellet quality and production output.
• Inspect feedstock to ensure it is free from sand, stones, metal particles, and excessive moisture.
• Supervise raw-material feeding labour and ensure the required feedstock is available for the shift.
• Identify and troubleshoot basic machine and process-related issues.
• Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
• Monitor pellet quality and supervise finished-product bagging and handling.
• Maintain production records and ensure compliance with health, safety, and housekeeping standards.

POSITION 3: BIOMASS AGGREGATION SUPERVISOR

JOB TYPE: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY

The Biomass Aggregation Supervisor will be responsible for supporting biomass procurement and be in-charge of biomass storage to ensure that the biomass is always stored up in good condition.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• At least Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or equivalent.

Experience:

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in procurement of agricultural commodities.

Skills:

• Strong administrative skills.
• Effective communication.
• Inventory management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support procurement of raw biomass.
• Preparing daily stock reports of raw biomass.
• Coordinate with finance team to ensure timely processing of payments for suppliers.
• Stock management for raw biomass and ensuring that it stays in good quality.
• Coordinating feeding process of the production line of the biomass plant.
• Maintain relations with biomass suppliers.
• Any other duties assigned by management.
