POSITION 1: DISTRICT CHILD HEALTH AND NUTRITION OFFICER

POSITION OVERVIEW
The District Child Health and Nutrition Officer will provide technical and programmatic support for the implementation of child health interventions under the ACHIEVE project at district level. The Officer will support activities aimed at strengthening high-quality, integrated child health and nutrition services at district, facility and community levels.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Midwifery, Degree in Public Health, Health Management or relevant health field. Those with advanced Post-Graduate training in Public Health will have an added advantage.
- At least 5 years' experience delivering, overseeing, and providing technical assistance in maternal and newborn health.
- Experience working at both health facility and community levels.
Additional Qualifications:
- Deep familiarity and technical understanding of child health and nutrition interventions across the continuum of ANC, delivery, PNC services focused on preventing the leading causes of death and improving health outcomes through provision of person-centered, respectful care.
- Experience integrating malaria in pregnancy (MiP), nutrition, and HIV-focused services in child health and nutrition care.
- Experience providing technical assistance, capacity strengthening, supportive supervision, and performance monitoring in child health and nutrition.
- Demonstrated experience leading successful teams, achieving deliverables on time and within budget, and interacting effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of senior and mid-level public and private sector counterparts, donors, and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with government and civil society stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, presentation, communication and reporting skills.
- Sound IT knowledge and skills in word processing, spreadsheet, databases, presentations.
- Ability to work independently, good leadership and communication skills, ability to work with people from all backgrounds.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to speak other Malawian local languages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working directly with clients/patients in a clinical setting.
- Knowledge of USG rules, regulations, and policies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the implementation and coordination of project activities aimed at strengthening high-quality, integrated child health and nutrition services at facility and community levels.
- Assist in the implementation of interventions designed to improve emergency obstetric and newborn care and reduce maternal and newborn mortality.
- Support capacity strengthening of frontline health workers through training, mentoring, coaching, supportive supervision, and other approaches.
- Assist in promoting the use of quality improvement tools and approaches to strengthen maternal and newborn health service delivery.
- Support identification of gaps in child health and nutrition service delivery, including issues related to availability and management of essential commodities and supplies.
- Work closely with district health teams and other stakeholders to support coordination and implementation of child health and nutrition activities.
- Participate in supportive supervision visits and follow-up actions to improve the quality of child health and nutrition services at health facilities.
- Contribute to the development and adaptation of child health and nutrition technical tools, job aids, training materials, and project documentation as needed.
- Support routine monitoring of child health and nutrition activities and contribute to tracking progress toward project targets.
- Assist in the collection, review, and use of data to inform program improvements and strengthen quality of care.
- Participate in district-level coordination meetings, technical discussions, and performance review meetings related to child health and nutrition.
- Support documentation and sharing of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories related to child health and nutrition interventions.
- Employee complies with all company policies and procedures, including completing all compliance training topics by the deadline to satisfy each and receiving the corresponding acknowledgment statement that the training has been completed.

POSITION 2: DISTRICT TRIPLE ELIMINATION OFFICER – 4 POSITIONS
Locations: Karonga, Zomba, Thyolo, or Balaka (1 per district)

POSITION OVERVIEW
The District Triple Elimination Technical Officer will support the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of triple elimination interventions at district and facility levels. This is a district-based position and the successful candidate will be assigned to one of the four project implementation districts: Karonga, Zomba, Thyolo, or Balaka. The officer will report directly to the Triple Elimination Technical Lead.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health, Clinical Medicine, Health Management, or another relevant health-related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience implementing health programs, preferably in HIV, PMTCT, MNCH, SRH, or related public health programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience working at district, facility, and/or community levels in Malawi.
- Familiarity with Triple Elimination of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B interventions, including PMTCT, HIV self-testing, PrEP, and community case management.
- Experience supporting health systems strengthening initiatives, including service integration, commodity management, health information systems, and quality improvement.
- Familiarity with Malawi Ministry of Health supply chain systems, commodity reporting tools, and logistics management processes will be an added advantage.
- Experience conducting supportive supervision, mentoring, training, and capacity strengthening activities.
- Strong understanding of Malawi Ministry of Health systems, structures, policies, and guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with DHMTs, health workers, community structures, government counterparts, and implementing partners.
- Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and report writing skills.
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and electronic data systems.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to speak Chichewa and other local languages will be an added advantage.
- Experience working on U.S. Government-funded projects and familiarity with donor requirements will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to live in one of the ACHIEVE project districts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support implementation and coordination of ACHIEVE project activities aimed at accelerating the triple elimination of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B at district, facility, and community levels.
- Work closely with District Health Management Teams (DHMTs), coordinators, health facilities, and community structures to ensure effective implementation of triple elimination interventions.
- Support integration of triple elimination activities within existing MNCH, nutrition, PMTCT, and related health services.
- Provide routine technical support and supportive supervision to health facilities and community health workers implementing triple elimination activities together with Ministry of Health teams.
- Support capacity strengthening activities including training, mentoring, coaching, and on-site technical assistance for health workers and community-based cadres.
- Monitor availability and proper utilization of commodities, supplies, job aids, and reporting tools related to triple elimination interventions and escalate gaps to the Technical Lead.
- Support commodity tracking, forecasting, stock monitoring, and supply chain management for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, PrEP, HIV self-test kits, laboratory supplies, and other related commodities at district and facility levels and escalate gaps to the technical lead.
- Work closely with district pharmacy, laboratory, and supply chain teams to monitor stock status, prevent stock-outs and expiries, and ensure timely redistribution and replenishment of commodities.
- Support facilities to maintain accurate commodity records, reporting tools, and logistics management information systems (LMIS) related to triple elimination services.
- Support implementation and strengthening of health information systems for accurate data collection, reporting, analysis, and use at district and facility levels.
- Work with M&E staff to ensure timely and accurate collection, verification, and reporting of program data and indicators.
- Participate in district planning, review, coordination, and performance monitoring meetings related to triple elimination and MNCH services.
- Ensure adherence to national guidelines, protocols, and quality of care standards during implementation of project activities.
- Support the effective integration of triple elimination interventions into district Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) operations and activities, including disease surveillance, monitoring of key program indicators, coordination of timely trigger responses to identified gaps, and reporting of critical events to relevant national-level stakeholders to ensure progress toward triple elimination targets.
- Monitor and report key surveillance findings, alerts, and programmatic events related to HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B to the technical lead in a timely manner to support informed decision-making and coordinated response efforts.
- Document implementation progress, lessons learned, success stories, and best practices from supported districts and facilities.
- Prepare timely technical reports, activity updates, and other required project documentation.
- Collaborate with government counterparts, implementing partners, and community stakeholders to strengthen coordination and service delivery.
- Support community engagement and follow-up mechanisms for at-risk mother-infant pairs, including linkages between facilities and community structures.
- Identify implementation challenges at district and facility levels and recommend practical solutions to improve program performance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Triple Elimination Technical Lead.
