Available Positions
1. Chief Clinical Technician
Grade: I
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the clinical and paramedical personnel at the Health Centre
- Diagnosing patients
- Prescribing treatment
- Conducting ward rounds of admitted patients to review possible discharges and treatment
- Attending to referral cases from outpatients department
- Performing minor surgical operations and attending to theatre emergencies
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Clinical Medicine from a reputable training institution
- Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi
2. Senior Clinical Technician
Grade: J
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducting ward rounds of admitted patients to review possible discharges and treatment
- Attending to referral cases from outpatients department
- Performing normal surgical operations and attending to theatre emergencies
- Planning and preparing sound programmes for Health Centres and monitoring and evaluating implementation activities
- Conducting refresher courses for junior staff
- Ensuring correct and complete recording of data in relevant HMIS registers and instruments
- Ensuring timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders
- Performing routine monitoring of health indicators and using information in planning and management of health services
- Supervising clinical paramedical staff
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a reputable training institution
- Should have at least four years working experience
- Registration with the Medical Council of Malawi
3. Community Health Nurse Midwife Technician
Grade: J
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advising mothers on Maternal and Child health issues and teaching parents on family planning methods
- Conducting mobile clinic services to the community and schools on health issues
- Assessing community health needs related to sanitation, immunization, water, income generating activities, nutrition and home care
- Providing Anti-natal, Under-five, post-natal, child spacing and nutrition clinics
- Providing nursing care related to needs of the community
- Ensuring proper and complete recording of data in relevant registers and instruments following HMIS guidelines
- Ensuring timely and adequate analysis of information and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders
- Routinely monitoring relevant indicators using HMIS tools and guidelines
- Providing training and feedback to subordinate personnel for proper data collection, analysis and use
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Community Nursing
- Three years experience
- Registration with the Nurses Council of Malawi
4. Assistant Accountant
Grade: K
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Analyzing operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses
- Developing, implementing, modifying, and documenting recordkeeping and accounting systems
- Developing, maintaining, and analyzing budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
- Establishing tables of accounts and assigning entries to proper accounts
- Preparing, examining, or analyzing accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports
- Interpreting financial policies on accounts
- Supervising all accounts staff including health centres
- Controlling day to day operations of main accounts
- Reporting to management regarding the finances of the health centre
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting
- Registered member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in Malawi (ICAM)
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
5. Clinical Technician (Anaesthesia)
Grade: K
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Making pre-operative assessment of patients
- Ordering special tests for medication of patients before administering
- Conducting anaesthesia on patients
- Reporting condition changes of a patient to surgeon or relevant attendant
- Managing fluid, electrolytes and acid/base disturbances
- Shock management
- Providing emergency anaesthesia in life saving surgeries
- Training juniors in Anaesthesia procedures and in how to resuscitate patients and babies
- Ensuring correct anaesthesia complete recording of data in relevant HMIS registers and instruments
- Ensuring timely processing of data and dissemination to all relevant stakeholders
- Performing routine monitoring of health indicators and using data in planning and management of health services
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution with a minimum of three years' working in a primary health care setting
- Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi (MCM) with a valid practising licence
6. Nurse Midwife Technician
Grade: K
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing nursing services to patients
- Preparing health tips and talks to the patients
- Supervising cleanliness of the wards
- Ordering drugs for the patients from the pharmacy
- Selecting very sick patients requiring special attention
- Preparing patients before going to the theatre for C/Section
- Supervising the caring of patients to and from the theatre
- Recording patients' data in relevant registers/charts
- Analyzing data and submitting periodic reports to the Senior Clinical Technician
- Accompanying Clinical Officers during ward rounds, clinics and procedures
- Compiling handover notes to be submitted to the next nurse on duty
- Attending morning reports
- Compiling death reports
- Assisting mothers (patients) on Ante Natal Clinic
- ART administration
- Attending to mothers on delivery at Labour ward
- Carrying out postnatal checkups at Labour ward
- Attending to sick babies in nursery room
- Receiving and resuscitating babies after C/Section
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery
- At least three years experience
- Registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council
7. Pharmacy Assistant
Grade: L
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Checking drug stocks and making orders from the store
- Cleaning of pharmacy floors, wiping benches and dusting stock containers
- Prepackaging drugs ready for dispensing
- Receiving prescriptions from out and in-patient and checking dosage and prescription particulars
- Issuing required medicine to patients and giving instructions on how to use and store
- Ensuring correct drug storage
- Monitoring drugs using HMIS tools and guidelines and report to the designated supervisor
- Management of pharmaceutical supplies for Hospital wards and departments
Qualification and Experience:
- Certificate in Pharmacy registrable in Malawi
8. Laboratory Assistant
Grade: L
Reporting to: Chief Clinical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sample processing
- Operating equipment (bench work)
- Checking results
- Chemical and reagent inventory management
Qualification and Experience:
- Certificate in Biomedical Science / Laboratory Technician
- Registration with the Medical Council of Malawi
9. Senior Home Craft Worker
Grade: L
Reporting to: Community Health Nurse Midwife Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Weigh under five children
- Conduct anthropometric assessments
- Identify sick or malnourished or underweight individuals
Qualification and Experience:
- Certificate or Diploma in Nutrition, Community Home Craft Management
- Should have at least six years' experience
10. Home Craft Worker
Grade: M
Reporting to: Senior Home Craft Worker
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinating all Maternal Child Health programs
- Serving patients by visiting homes, determining patient and family needs, developing health care plans, providing nursing and treatments
- Referring patients with social and emotional problems to other community agencies
- Monitoring the outreach and static clinics
- Supervising and monitoring Family planning and Ante Natal Care services
- Supervising Nutrition Rehabilitation Unit section
- Coordinating community health care teams
Qualification and Experience:
- Certificate in Food and Nutrition from a recognized institution with 3 years experience
11. Senior Clerical Officer
Grade: L
Reporting to: Facility In-Charge
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sorting patient's files according to the Ward they are coming from (Gynaecology, Post Normal and Post Abnormal Wards)
- Putting the files in their shelves
- Pulling out files from the shelf in readiness for the clinic after receiving an appointment list
- Collection of data from all Wards
- Compiling monthly in-patient return and sending to headquarters
- Collection of data from private doctors and dispensaries within the hospital
- Compiling monthly out-patient returns from all private hospitals and dispensaries
- Recording data in relevant registers and instruments following HMIS guidelines
- Compilation of monthly data and submission to the designated supervisor
- Coordinating procurement and distribution of health passports through revolving fund
12. Accounts Assistant
Grade: M
Reporting to: Assistant Accountant
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Issuing of receipts and preparing cheques
- Checking authorization and issuing of salary cheques
- Balancing and updating salaries ledger
- Recording receipts and cheques in cash books
- Preparing and recording of payment vouchers
- Writing of remittance payment vouchers and cheques
- Preparing invoices and cash controls
Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum of Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting
- Registered member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in Malawi (ICAM)
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
