Mission and Objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that promotes volunteerism to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development, and it benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer.

UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for volunteerism globally, encouraging partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing volunteers.

In most cultures, volunteerism is deeply embedded in long-established, ancient traditions of sharing and support within communities. In all assignments, UN Volunteers promote volunteerism through their action and conduct.

Context

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) are jointly implementing a social media advocacy campaign to commemorate the International Year of Volunteers (IVY) in Malawi. The campaign, running from June to November 2026, aims to promote volunteerism's role in achieving national development goals in Malawi.

It will highlight key themes such as volunteer wellbeing, legal frameworks, and inclusive volunteer management through a series of webinars and targeted social media initiatives. This initiative is aligned with the Global Index of Volunteer Engagement (GIVE) framework and the Global Volunteering Standard.

We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic Lead IVY Advocacy Campaign Coordinator to steer the content planning, webinar development, and overall execution of this high-profile national campaign.
