Job Description

Zomba Diocese Health Commission operates under the Social Directorate of the Catholic Diocese of Zomba. Its mission is to advance the healing ministry of Jesus Christ by promoting human life and providing preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services in a holistic manner. This is achieved through participation in collaborative networks and partnerships, aligned with the needs and capacities of the communities, and in accordance with Catholic core values and principles, to ensure the delivery of the high- quality services, the Commission is seeking to recruit motivated and experienced individuals for the following vacant positions at one of its health facilities St. Robert Health Centre (Sitima).

  3. Department : Preventive Health Services

  • Direct:  Senior Home Craft Worker
  • Indirect: Ward in- Charge
  1. Supervision Exercised : None


  1. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducting dump dusting to ensure patients are in ever clean environment
  • Checking vital signs including temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure and respirations
  • Ensure proper documentation of vital signs multi chart
  • Weigh sick children daily and ensure proper documentation
  • Administering prescribed drugs and therapeutic food staffs including F 100, F 75, RUFT (chiponde) and Likuni Phala
  • In liaison with antenatal department conduct outreach clinic to assess under five children and antenatal mothers to identify those who are malnourished and initiate treatment
  • Distribute therapeutic food staffs to outpatients
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

Requirements

  1. Qualifications
  • Certificate in Home craft from recognized institution
  • Malawi School Certificate of Education

 

  1. Knowledge, Ability and Skills
  • Well conversant with the health system in Malawi
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem identification and solving skills.
