OVERVIEW
Edinburgh Girls' High School is a prestigious all-girls secondary school located at Engcongolweni, about 22 kilometers North-West of Mzuzu along the M1 road. Established in 2007 through significant funding from the Mary Erskine School in Scotland, the school shares a unique partnership with its international namesake, including the same uniform and the Latin motto Mitis et Fortis – "Gentle and Strong".
The school has a proud history of academic excellence, consistently exceeding the national average pass rate in the Malawi School Certificate (MSC) examinations. It is a private, non-profit institution funded by the Chesney Trust, committed to providing high-quality education to girls from across Malawi. Students have represented Malawi on the international stage, including performing at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and results-oriented Head Teacher to provide strategic leadership and ensure the continued growth and excellence of Edinburgh Girls' High School. As the school enters its next phase of growth, we require a leader who can build on our strong foundations of academic success and holistic development.
The Head Teacher will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the school, overseeing both teaching and non-teaching staff and driving high standards of academic performance and character development.

KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Education: A bachelor's degree in education from an accredited institution (a master's degree in education is an added advantage).
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in school leadership or senior management in a reputable secondary school. Experience as a Deputy Head Teacher or Head of Department is essential.
- Registration: Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM).
- Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be computer literate.
- Personal Attributes: High moral integrity, commitment to girls' education, and a passion for youth development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership in line with the school's mission, vision, and core values, ensuring the school's objectives are met and exceeded.
- Academic Excellence: Oversee the implementation of the Malawi National Secondary School Curriculum, monitor teacher performance, analyze student assessment data, and develop strategies to improve academic outcomes.
- Staff Management: Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate all teaching and non-teaching staff. Conduct performance reviews and foster a positive and motivating work environment.
- Resource Management: Manage the school's resources and finances responsibly, ensuring prudent financial management and accountability.
- Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents, the local community, partners and the Board of Directors.
- Governance and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Education policies, national education standards, and the Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM) regulations.
