About the Company
Fidelis Construction Limited is a fast-growing construction company specializing in building construction, maintenance works, and civil engineering projects across Malawi. As part of our continued growth, we are inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the following position:
Foreman (30)
Reporting to: General Foreman
Role summary
As a Foreman you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating daily site activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to required standards. Leading and managing workers, allocating tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring materials and equipment are available when needed. Maintaining quality standards, enforcing safety procedures, and reporting progress or issues to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning
- Review the project schedule, confirm achievable scope and translate superintendent instructions into specific tasks for the crew.
- Supervision
- Assign tasks, monitor progress and ensure work is completed safely, on time and to specification.
- Safety Enforcement
- Ensure workers use appropriate PPE and enforce safe working standards
- Quality Control
- Check dimensions, alignment and workmanship against drawings and specifications, correcting deficiencies before inspection failures.
- Material & Equipment Coordination
- Track material usage, report shortages and ensure timely deliveries.
- Coordinate equipment needs and maintenance with the superintendent.
- Subcontractor Management
- Resolve conflicts between crews, ensure smooth collaboration and manage sequencing dependencies in shared work areas.
- Reporting & Communication
- Prepare site diaries, daily progress reports, maintain site records and compile site correspondences.
Requirements
Qualification and Competencies
- Certificate or Diploma in Construction or related qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years working experience.
- Team leadership and supervision skills.
- Good in Problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good in time and schedule management
- High level of responsibility, reliability and professionalism.
