Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) is a local, non-governmental organization providing youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health rights, information, and services. FPAM compliments the government of Malawi in improving the health status of all people in Malawi.

FPAM's vision is a Malawian society with access to quality and comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services and information.

FPAM is looking for suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position.


Job Role

The role of the Finance Officer is to assist in developing and maintaining strong and effective financial management systems and internal control systems while capturing, updating, and reconciling financial records.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets
  • Reconciling daily, monthly, and yearly transactions
  • Preparing payments by verifying documents and requesting disbursements
  • Preparing special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information
  • Posting data into SAGE Accounting package on a daily basis
  • Checking and verification of all cash liquidation from FPAM staff
  • Ensuring adherence to approved financial policies and procedures, as well as donor requirements
  • Reviewing payments, advances, inter-office charges, cash and bank reconciliations based on proper supporting documentation on a regular basis
  • Being a point of contact with other departments on financial and accounting matters
  • Adhering to all safeguarding policies and principles while executing duties

Requirements

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent obtained from a reputable institution

Professional Experience

  • At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in a busy donor-funded organization
  • Hands-on knowledge of Sage or any accounting software is desirable
  • Experience in managing donor-funded projects is a must
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
