Location: Mzuzu, Malawi

Job Title: Finance Manager (FM)

Grade: LB2

Reports To: Director

Duration: 2 Years (24 Months)

Job Purpose

To ensure best practice in Financial Management of the ECD Department in order to maximize efficiency, accountability, and growth.


Key Responsibilities

FINANCE & BUDGETING

  • Develop budgeting methodology and assist other managers in preparing budgets and reports and consolidating such.
  • Liaise with Programme Manager and other senior staff in preparing programme budgets.
  • Make recommendations on updating financial procedures and policies and communicate changes to relevant staff.
  • Operate and maintain ECD bank accounts in liaison with the Director.
  • Maintain accounting books, systems, and packages.
  • Manage reconciliations and audit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ECD accounting policies, procedures, and statutory financial requirements.
  • Forecast cash flow requirements.
  • Check bank reconciliation statements to monitor balances.
  • Review financial reports prepared by Accounts Assistants.
  • Coordinate audit activities, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Supervise management of programme and project accounts.
  • Track project progress from a financial perspective and monitor expenditure against budgets.
  • Review financial and administrative procedures including payroll, bookkeeping, insurance, budget and cost control, personnel policies, and accounting functions.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum BSc in Accounting from a recognized academic institution.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Finance Manager will directly supervise the accounts staff.
