OVERVIEW
Beehive Centre for Social Enterprise is dedicated to transforming lives and communities through innovative and sustainable social enterprises. We create opportunities, foster entrepreneurship, and deliver impactful solutions to address the socio-economic challenges in Malawi. With a staff of over 500, we run schools under Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Institute, businesses, a factory, farms, and a construction enterprise.
Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Institute (MQOPCI) is one of Beehive's trading divisions and a growing Catholic educational institution, providing quality education alongside a strong ethos of community service and outreach. Based on its campus in Chilomoni, Blantyre, MQOPCI brings together four institutions spanning early years to tertiary level.
In line with its mission to widen access to education, MQOPCI reserves over 22% of its places for bursary students, ensuring that families facing financial hardship are not excluded from quality schooling.
We are seeking a highly motivated, strategic, and experienced Finance Director to lead the organisation's finance function and provide sound financial leadership in support of its strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting, treasury management, internal controls, compliance, and financial risk management, while providing strategic advice to the Board and Executive Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the organisation.
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain effective internal control systems and financial governance frameworks.
- Manage cash flow, treasury operations, and working capital requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
- Monitor organisational performance and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve high performance.
Requirements
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A professional accounting qualification and membership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
- A minimum of 10 years' relevant finance and accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards, taxation, budgeting, and financial management.
- Proven leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience in strategic planning and organisational performance management.
- Strong business acumen and ability to influence decision-making at executive level.
