Job Summary

The Farm Intern will assist with the day-to-day operations of the farm, supporting activities related to livestock, aquaculture, and poultry production. The position is designed to provide hands-on agricultural experience while contributing to the efficient running of the farm. The intern will gain practical exposure to pig farming, fish farming, and poultry management, as well as general farm operations, including understanding the financial and profitability aspects of farm production.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in feeding and daily care of pigs, fish, and poultry.

Support fish farming activities including feeding, monitoring fish behaviour, checking water levels, and maintaining pond cleanliness.

Assist in poultry management including feeding, watering, egg collection (for layers), and maintaining cleanliness in poultry houses.

Support routine pig management activities including feeding, cleaning pig pens, and monitoring animal health.

Observe and report signs of disease, injuries, or abnormal behaviour in animals.

Participate in stocking, harvesting, and other production activities for fish and livestock.

Assist with cleaning animal housing, ponds, poultry houses, and surrounding farm areas.

Support general farm maintenance such as fencing, basic repairs, and equipment cleaning.

Maintain basic farm records including feed usage, growth monitoring, egg production, and mortality records.

Assist in tracking production costs, feed usage, and output levels to help assess farm profitability.

Support the identification of cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements in farm operations.

Follow farm safety, hygiene, and biosecurity procedures always.

Qualifications and Skills

Certificate, Diploma, or current studies in Agriculture, Animal Science, Aquaculture, or related field (preferred but not mandatory).

Strong interest in farming and agribusiness.

Willingness to perform physical farm work and work outdoors.

Good observation, communication, and teamwork skills.

Basic record-keeping and willingness to learn farm management and profitability analysis.
