VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Driver (LH9)

Organization: Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO)

Location: Bakili Muluzi International Airport and Kamuzu International Airport, Malawi

Reporting to: Transport Controller

Introduction and Background

Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government owned commercial entity established in 2000. The core business of the company is to provide passenger, ramp, and cargo handling services to national and international airlines, as well as travel, tour, and lounge services to passengers traveling in and out of Malawi Airports.

The Company is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions at Bakili Muluzi International Airport and Kamuzu International Airport.


Position Purpose

To timely transport staff, passengers, baggage, cargo, and mail.

Main Duties

  • Checking roadworthiness of vehicles and Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
  • Transporting staff, passengers, baggage, cargo, and mail
  • Loading, offloading, and sorting baggage, cargo, and mail
  • Deploying safety guides and safety rails on GSE
  • Operating in-plane loading system
  • Delivering and collecting office mail
  • Maintaining vehicle log book
  • Compiling defect report form for vehicles and GSE
  • Reporting vehicle/GSE faults, incidents, and accidents
  • Cleaning of GSE and vehicles
  • Collecting Foreign Object Damage (FOD)
  • Identifying and reporting hazards
  • Positioning and removing GSE from the aircraft



Requirements

Education Qualification

  • Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with a Clean Driving License Class C1
  • Those with a valid Defensive Driving Certificate will have an added advantage


Work Experience

  • At least two (2) years' driving experience
