About the Organization

Nyanthepa Community Radio Station (NCRS) is a non-profit community broadcaster based in Nsanje District. The station invites applications from qualified and experienced consultants or facilitators to conduct a Staff Capacity Building Training on Radio Programming.

The training is being implemented under the Civil Society Strengthening Fund (CSSF) through Tilitonse Foundation in partnership with Comic Relief and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom.


Objective of the Assignment

The assignment aims to strengthen the technical and creative capacities of Nyanthepa Community Radio staff in program planning, production, presentation, content development, audience engagement, and ethical journalism to improve the quality and impact of radio programming.


Scope of Work

The successful consultant/facilitator will be expected to:

  • Review current programming approaches and existing radio programs
  • Conduct a rapid assessment of staff capacity gaps in programming and content production
  • Facilitate practical training sessions on:
  • Principles of community radio programming
  • Program planning and scheduling
  • Script writing and content development
  • Interviewing and presentation skills
  • Production of panel discussions, magazine programs, and recorded features
  • Audience engagement and participatory communication
  • Ethical journalism and balanced reporting
  • Voice presentation and communication skills
  • Monitoring program quality and listener feedback
  • Provide practical exercises and demonstrations
  • Mentor staff during practical production sessions
  • Provide recommendations for strengthening programming quality and sustainability


Duration

The assignment is expected to be completed within 7–10 working days, including preparation, training delivery, and reporting.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Interested consultants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, Development Communication, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in radio programming, production, and media capacity building
  • Proven experience in facilitating practical media or community radio trainings
  • Strong understanding of community radio operations and participatory communication approaches
  • Excellent facilitation, mentorship, and communication skills
  • Be registered with MRA (has TPIN)
