About the Facility

Pothawira Health Center is located in Salima District, approximately two miles from Msangu Market along the Senga Bay Road. The facility comprises a general outpatient clinic, a dedicated birthing unit, and a newly established state-of-the-art surgical center. Together, these services provide comprehensive, patient-centered care across a full spectrum of medical and surgical needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general and bariatric surgical procedures, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic cases
• Manage preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care
• Conduct hospital rounds and oversee inpatient surgical patients, including bariatric cases
• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for surgical patients
• Monitor postoperative progress and manage complications as needed
• Collaborate with Anesthetics, Surgical Assistants, and hospital staff to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system
• Ensure compliance with all hospital protocols, Medical Council of Malawi regulations, and surgical standards

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in General Surgery from a recognised institution
• Minimum of 2 years working experience in a busy setting
• In good standing with the Medical Council of Malawi
