Job Description

CRECK Hardware & General Suppliers Limited, a leading hardware company in Malawi, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, managing inventory portfolio, producing financial statements, and ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met. As an integral member of our finance team, he/she will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and implementing financial best practices while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

ROLE: Accountant

TYPE: Full-time

REPORTS TO: Finance & Administration Manager

DEPARTMENT: Finance

Experience: 5+ years

DUTY STATION: Head Office (Lilongwe)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate ledgers, record income and expenses, reconcile bank statements, and ensure proper documentation of all financial activities
  2. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare financial statements, reports, and analyses to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement
  3. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor accounts, monitor receivables, and ensure timely billing and payments
  4. Compliance & Auditing: Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS), assist with internal and external audits, and maintain confidentiality of financial information
  5. Tax & Financial Support: Assist with tax preparation and filings, support month-end and year-end closing processes, and recommend improvements to accounting procedures
  6. Client and Management Interaction: Communicate financial information to management or clients, provide insights for decision-making, and support strategic planning
  7. Accurate Record Keeping: Track inventory levels and transactions to ensure financial records match physical stock
  8. Reconciliation: Identify and resolve discrepancies between inventory records and actual stock
  9. Reporting: Prepare detailed inventory reports for management review and financial planning
  10. Collaboration: Work with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Finance teams to optimize inventory processes
  11. Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  12. Process Improvement: Recommend strategies to enhance inventory efficiency and reduce costs


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proven 5+ years of experience as an Accountant
  • Proven experience in Accounting Principles, Standards, and Tax Regulations
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or SAP) and Microsoft Office applications
