Malawi Research and Education Network (MAREN) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Accountant.

The successful candidate will report to the Finance and Administration Manager and will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting strategic financial decision-making through quality financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Analyze financial records and reports for compliance and accuracy
• Conduct budget versus actual analysis
• Support financial forecasting and planning
• Maintain the general ledger and oversee closing processes
• Review invoices, expense claims, and payment vouchers
• Handle statutory deductions and tax compliance
• Manage accounts receivable and credit control
• Maintain the Fixed Assets Register
• Process and verify payroll
• Review procurement requests for compliance
• Perform any other assigned duties

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
• Professional certification is an added advantage
• Registered member of ICAM/MAB
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• High integrity and ability to work under pressure
