OVERVIEW
The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill various academic positions across different faculties.
Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching, research, consultancy, and community engagement within their respective fields of expertise.
AVAILABLE POSITIONS
FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE
- Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer/Staff Associate in Animal Health and Welfare
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Animal Science for Assistant Lecturer level and a PhD in Animal Science for Lecturer and above.
• Applicants must be practicing and registered Veterinarians.
- Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer/Staff Associate in Beef and Dairy Production
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Animal Science majoring in Beef and Dairy Production for Assistant Lecturer level and a PhD in Animal Science for Lecturer and above.
- Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer/Assistant Lecturer/Staff Associate in Animal Science
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Animal Science majoring in Animal Breeding or Livestock Production for Assistant Lecturer level and a PhD in Animal Science for Lecturer and above.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Agribusiness Management for Assistant Lecturer level and a PhD in Agribusiness Management for Lecturer and above.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Development Finance or Finance for Assistant Lecturer level and a PhD in Development Finance for Lecturer and above.
• Applicants should be proficient in teaching areas including Marketing and Market Research, Product Development for Microfinance Institutions, Quantitative Methods, Microfinance and Development, Digital Finance, and Micro and Small Enterprise.

• Applicants should be proficient in Algorithms, Data Structures, Modern Programming Languages, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
• Prepare course syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials.
• Conduct lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials.
• Assess student performance through assignments, examinations, and projects.
• Participate in curriculum development and improvement.
• Conduct research and publish findings in academic journals.
• Seek research funding and manage research projects.
• Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations.
• Provide academic mentorship and career guidance.
• Participate in community engagement activities.
• Support quality assurance activities.
• Develop grant proposals and conduct consultancy activities.
• Participate in departmental and university committees.
Requirements
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Staff Associate applicants must have a first degree in a related field with at least a Credit from a recognized university.
• Candidates completing their Master’s Degree must indicate progress towards completion and expected completion date.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience, preferably teaching at university level or developing curricula in related fields.
• Applicants for Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor positions must provide evidence of publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals and ability to attract research funds.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
• Successful candidates will initially be engaged on a two-year contract.
• Permanent appointment may be considered based on satisfactory performance and meeting LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service (2023).
• Remuneration will be in line with LUANAR Staff Regulations and Conditions of Service (2023).
